An Artist by Nature

This is an image journal of artistic places I have traveled to, places I have dwelt in for awhile and places I will always come back to. All my work is an expression of my joy and reverence for the beauty I see all around me. These expressions can be found in many forms, painting, drawing, photography, writing, sewing, landscaping, and many other forms of art & design, especially in wood.
While my main inspiration has always been the natural world, it also wanders into the world of wonder & of childhood lore.

Painting Lindsay's Oriental Lily

This project has been different than my others and was a lot of fun to do.
I started by blocking it out in acrylics, which dry fast and and are good to establish the darks and lights and color shapes.

Here I am working on the stems. I am close to being finished. I love the larger size and would like to paint even bigger.

Almost finished!

This is the acrylic base layer. In the end I changed the shape of the bud so it was not pointed.
